Survey Entry - Entering a survey in rods
If your survey is an older survey that contains distances measured in Rods, Chains, or Links (perhaps in combination with Feet) you will need to enter the survey in rods. When you choose rods as your units, the second page of the Survey Entry Dialog will give you four lines for entering distance corresponding to these four units. You can enter any combination of
the four units, but when you add the survey pair (bearing and distance) to your survey list, it will calculate the distance into rods only (i.e. 40 rods and 2 links will end up as 40.08 rods). You will not be able to enter the survey bearing using the 'Regular' menu (the one where North and South are radio buttons and degrees, minutes and seconds each have their own line). This is because there isn't room on the dialog for all the necessary fields.
Old-time survey units have the following equivalencies:
1 Chain = 4 Rods
1 Rod = 25 Links
1 Rod = 16.5 Feet
